Coronavirus Update

Coronavirus Update

Update: Monday March 2, 2020

Hello Uncorkers!

We are excited to see our 2020 season underway! All our touring teams are preparing for their upcoming Uncorked Tours!
As always, our staff will be prepping the vehicles early to make sure that your upcoming tour is 100% ready to Roll.  With so much to prepare –cleaning, fueling, insuring, reserving tastings as well as special gifts for special occasions – each and every detail is checked and double-checked by our dedicated staff.

Health and Safety are always paramount and with daily breaking news about Coronavirus outbreaks in China and other world locations, we want to keep you updated on what is going on at Uncorked. Most importantly, Uncorked is staying ahead of all possible viruses by proactively keeping the vehicles as germ-free as possible with an elevated concentration on health and safety between now and your tour. Each tour will have disinfectant for all to use. Extensive, ongoing cleaning and precautions will continue throughout the tour.

Presently, the Coronavirus is not a significant risk aboard our touring vehicles, as the following preventative measures and screenings will be implemented aboard each vehicle prior to your tour:

  • Enhanced pre-boarding and onboard health protocols that go above and beyond standard operating procedures. Anyone feeling unwell or demonstrating flu-like symptoms will be denied boarding.
  • Uncorked may deny boarding to any guest and guide who has traveled from, visited, or traveled via airports in China, including Hong Kong and Macau, within 30 days of their tour date, regardless of nationality. This list will be expanded if necessary. The standard incubation period recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Disease Control (CDC) for this virus is 14 days.
  • Any guest exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness within the 14 days leading up to their tour are required to advise us. While on tour should there be symptoms of Coronavirus or Influenza you may be subject to additional testing and potential disembarkation.
  • Uncorked has implemented additional cleaning and disinfection protocols on board. These protocols will be in addition to our already rigorous sanitization standards in place.

As always, be vigilant in your quest to avoid contact with possible health risks.  Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water frequently, avoid others around you at the wineries who are sneezing and coughing and as always, cover your mouth when you do so as well. Use the hand sanitizer placed on the vehicle. Let your Guide open and close the vehicle doors and other common-sense strategies. These are all good things to do during the Flu Season so take the extra time to protect yourself and all the guests around you.

While Coronavirus is dominating the media headlines, according to CDC statistics, influenza is likely a greater risk, flu shots are recommended if you haven’t done so already!
The safety, security, and well-being of our guests, and crew is our number one priority. At this time, there are no significant travel restrictions we are aware of in British Columbia or Canada at large.

Uncorked will continue to closely monitor the situation and consult with The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and take appropriate additional action as needed.

We are doing everything in our power to make this the best cruise ever and can’t wait to see you next month.

P.S. We will keep you posted as we receive updates. But for now…We will see you soon on your Uncorked Tour!
